Cool Learning Assist

Since I have been learning the Korean alphabet lately I decided to get a mug that would be both helpful and cool. I'm not going to use it for coffee, just keep it around where I frequently sit (couch or computer table) so I can passively absorb the letters. 

Three Things

1) It got into the mid-90's outside today, and when I got into my car it was 102! I was smart though, and opened the windows first before running errands (cat litter and then foodshopping), and of course I had the a/c going during the drive.

2) No matter how hot it gets outside, for some reason Chumble loves laying on the hard computer table in direct sunlight! Crazy cat...

3) And lastly, Jean Marie had new steps built for my front door over a week ago. They took some getting used to (there are three steps now instead of two, and they extend farther out, so I have to reach with the key), but they are a LOT safer for visitors, and they smell fantastic (new wood haha). Also, the mailbox pole was replaced, and actually sunk into concrete this time. Sweet!

April Snow

It snowed a bit at Sarah & Jon's last night, and a little bit on the drive home, but I wasn't supposed to get snow around here. However, I woke up to three sloppy inches of loose snow today. Weird!

Spring One

Up at 9:30 am to the tree removal crew beginning work.

Lunch was ramen with a few bits of celery, fresh mushrooms and soy sauce-infused boneless pork. SO good. After the crew left I opened all of the windows for the first time this year, and left them open 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm. SO nice!

Winter Storm Demi

We had a snowstorm overnight, beginning around 5:00 pm and ending after 1:00 am. We wound up with about 4 inches after the fall and the occurrence of settling.

I cleaned my car off today, when it was in the 20's and the sun was shining. The first two photos are 'before' (we've had negligible snow this winter!), and the bottom two are 'after', around 1:30 am.

Christmas Eve Morning

Christmas Eve Morning: I got up at 10:30 and found out there had been some snow. I hung out with Chumble for the day until leaving for my parents' house and the family Christmas festivities at 4:30.

Bonus!

While the rest of my entire immediate family is in Washington State through next Wednesday, Ma left me $60 of 'funny money'. Yesterday I used $35 of it to get Chinese food from The Jade after bringing Chumble to and from his monthly shot appointment. A good day for both of us!

Chicken fingers, sesame chicken, and white rice. I'll get 3 meals out of this!

Spring Has Sprung

It's been sunny and warm the last few days, and today I had all of the windows open from around 2:00 - 6:00 pm. 60 degrees and no wind, just fresh air...

Best Friend

I spent the day watching "Change Days" on Netflix. Breakfast was shredded wheat, blueberries and coffee. Lunch was a ham and cheese (American) toasted bagel sandwich with pickles and cold tea. Supper is going to be bacon, multigrain bread, orange juice and some fresh spinach. Also, I did my taxes, and I'll have about $1,500 in refunds toward the end of the month... Here are a couple of photos of Chumble from the day!

I Can't Drive 55

Today was my birthday. I spent it alone, and it was glorious. The highlight was Chinese food at 3:30. Just a day of reading, tv, time with my cat, and no outside influence (except the delivery driver - haha).

Coffee Run

What a nice way to kick off the Memorial Day Weekend...

I made my version of a South Beach Breakfast to eat while watching a few episodes of my latest Netflix run-thru of "Community".

And later in the day, from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm I drove in a big circle to the vet for Chumble's medicine, and then to the Lexington Peet's Coffee to get Gaia Organic Blend coffee beans and a large dark roast for the road. What a nice drive, and a nice day overall!

Random Catch-Up

Random things going on in the last month:

• Back at my old job, original location, to keep busy while I job hunt. Longer hours of business, but a full staff, and I was granted a truck exemption by the boss! I am already sick of it, but it's easy, so I'm dragging out my stay under my own terms, while training new ASMs...
• I went to see the new "Dungeons & Dragons" movie on the 13th. It was fantastic! Just the right amount of humor, with engaging characters, and tons of call backs to the game I played from junior high through my first year of college.
• Chumble's pre-arthritis medication is doing its work! After the first week he was back to his normal self, and he actually enjoys the turkey wet food. I called Monday about a refill, and it turns out it's a supplement (and not a cure). I'll pick up more later in the week. I am still SO thrilled that it wasn't diabetes!

Next up: New job! Hikes! Getting outdoors!

Snow Day

The first significant snow of the year. It began overnight as freezing rain, but when I woke up it was actual fluffy snow. We were forcast to get between 5-8 inches overall, but it's only around 4" at this time, with another hour or two to go...
